Pink and Brown for Spring

Brown is by far the most popular color from my store. Wide or skinny, brown headbands fly from my studio, no matter the season.

One of the most sought-after color combination is pink and brown, but sadly, it is really hard to find a cute printed fabric in pink and brown, that it is also suitable to make headbands... The choices have always been scarce.

True, I've been lucky to find a few pink and brown fabrics like this:

Or this one:

But I never stopped searching for more. So, it made me very happy to find these gorgeous prints that I will soon be adding to my store. I think they'll make beautiful sets for those of you who can't get enough of brown and pink.

Models or no models?

So, many women would like to see a picture of a model wearing my headbands, other women find them distracting...

I still can't decide how I like my pics best, with models or no models.
I guess sometimes I like close ups of the fabric used for the headband, other times I like the way they look on a model, like this picture that I selected for this post.

When I submitted my store for a critique about the new pictures, everybody said that both options were equally beautiful, and that if you see a model wearing a headband, it'll give you a size reference.

Since I had never used models before, I was a little worried about changing the look of my store. But then again I found that some headbands started getting more popular and sold more often when I used the picture of a model wearing it.

What do you think?

Do you prefer a picture of just the headband? or a picture of a model wearing the headband?

My old pictures, my new ones

The other day I was looking to the old pictures I used for my store when I started selling my headbands, and I can't believe how awful they were! Seriously. It is almost embarrassing to look at them again. But it also makes me a little proud about the new pictures I have taken lately. I've received many compliments and even some sellers have written asking for advice. I couldn't feel more honored [blushing here].

I've always been a fan of natural sunlight. The colors remain the same, and I don't have to spend hours editing the images. I like to take pictures outside of the house late in the afternoon or early in the morning, when the sun is not shining directly on my headbands.

It felt great to do this during the summer, but as the weather cooled down, and eventually reached below 32 F... well, taking pictures outside was out of the question. So, I moved my white background inside and used nice white lamps to do the trick. It worked perfectly! -At least with dark colors- light colored headbands are harder to photograph under artificial light, the white background makes it even harder. So I'm saving these white and light-colored headbands to be photographed in a few weeks, when we get a nicer weather.

In the meantime, I'll be working with real models wearing my headbands. We had our first photo shoot several weeks ago, and we got really nice pictures. I already started using them on my listings and the banners on my website. Check them out!
